Annual World Grits Festival

April 8th-10th 2016 St. George, SC

Did you know St. George South Carolina is the grits capital of the world? Neither did we. The World Grits Festival can be fun, crazy, and downright silly sometimes. Things like the "Grits Rolling Contest" where contestants dive face first in a mini pool of grits to see who can stash the most in whatever clothes or crevasses they have make this event a truly fun one. This event is great for all ages. There are plenty of other competitions like the wheel barrel races, beauty contests, and eating contests. This is not to be missed, check out their website here.

Annual Soft Shell Crab Festival

April 16th 2016 Port Royal, SC

Lots of food, beer, games for children, and not to mention soft shell crab cooked in about every way imaginable. One of our favourite parts of the festival is the crab race for charity where attendees can purchase a crab for $10 and 5,000 crabs will be released all at once into Battery Creek; the first crab to pass the observation deck receives a $2,000 cash prize! Cash prizes for 2-10th places as well. Soft Shell Crab Festival
